Karnataka CM appeals to revolutionary maoists to hold talks

Speaking after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of the so called Independence Day at Manekshaw Parade Grounds in Bangalore, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy expressed concern over the increase in Naxalite activities in the Malnad region.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday called on Naxals to come forward for peace talks.

He said: “The government is ready to hold talks with any organisation which shuns the bullet and comes forward to find solutions to socio-economic problems.” The chief minister also vowed to free farmers of their woes and announced the establishment of a Marketing Federation for Horticultural Crops and an increase in allocation for the Agriculture Revolving Fund (ARF) from the present Rs 400 crore to Rs 1,000 crore.
