The Andhra Pradesh police and Delhi Police on Saturday raided Hem Chandra Pandey's Shastri Nagar residence.Hem Chandra Pandey was a journalist who was killed along with senior Maoist leader Azad in Adilabad on July 2.
The raids at A-96 , Shastri Nagar – where Pandey and his wife Babita allegedly lived between February 2 and the former's death in the Azad encounter, following which the house has remained locked – also yielded three documents relating to meetings of the central committee of CPI(Maoist), 4-5 computer-generated printouts supposed to be handed over to fellow Maoists; incriminating literature and books in sets ranging from 20-25 to 100, on Maoists, People's War and Naxalbari movement, a computer, laptop and printer.
The hard disk of the computer and laptop will be sent for forensic examination in due time. Incidentally , Pandey's wife Babita, during her questioning by the Andhra police in July, made no mention of their Shastri Nagar residence, which they had rented for 5,000 per month. While claiming Pandey's body in Adilabad , she had mentioned an alternative Delhi address at Devnagar.
"On learning of her husband's death in the encounter, she quietly moved out of the Shastri Nagar residence, claiming that she needed to be with her ailing mother in Uttarakhand ," investigating officer and SDPO, Jagtial (Karimnagar), Mr Mohammad Abdul Bari , who led the raiding party, told ET.
It was only when the investigating team was alerted by an aide of Swami Agnivesh about the Shastri Nagar residence of Hem Chandra Pandey that it moved court for warrants to raid the house.
